German Film Seminar

The Department of German of the IIS University organized a German Film Seminar on 23rd February, 2016. The seminar was held on a German Filmdas doppelte Lottchen” based on the novel written by Erich  Kästner .Students  from different  universities e.g. University of Rajasthan, Manipal University, Jaipur, MNIT and some other institutes of Jaipur  where German is being taught, participated in the Film  Seminar.They made their presentations in German, discussing its content and analyzing, interpreting and  commenting upon  various aspects of the film and also relating it to the present scenario and the Indian society. They tried in their own way to reveal the message that the film wants to convey. The best presentation award went to Nistha Narang doing her Diploma in German from the IIS University.The second Prize was also won by Manasi Maheswari of Certificate Course in German at the IIS University, The third Prize was won by Kunal of Manipal University, Jaipur. The other two consolation prizes went to MNIT, Jaipur and  other institutes.

It was a matter of great honour  that Prof. Dr. V. Ganeshan ,who has been earlier Head of German Department,CIEFL,Hyderabad and later on became its Vice Chancellor and is presently teaching German at  the Georgia University , Atlanta, USA presided over the Presentation as the judge. The programme started with light lighting ceremony . The Chief Guest Dr. Ganeshan, Dr. Sharad Rathore, Chief Protocol Officer of the IIS University and teachers of German Deptt. lit the traditional lamp. After this Ms.Prachi Goswami , the head of Department of German welcomed the guests and the participants and also read out the rule for presentation. The students from all the universities participated in it very enthusiastically.

After the presentation Prof. Ganeshan  gave a lucid autobiographical presentation, which left the audience completely mesmerized. After this he also spoke on the topic “Learning German : A New Window to the World, interacting lively with all the students’ audience present there through his talk. An award distribution ceremony took place thereafter in which all the winners of the Film Seminar got   their awards from the hands of the Chief Guest Dr. Ganeshan. On this occasion Dr. Raakhi Gupta, the Registrar of the IIS University also presented a memento to the Honourable Guest Prof. V. Ganeshan. The Seminar ended with the Vote of Thanks presented by Mr. Jivendu Prasad Karna, Senior Assistant Professor and former Head of the German Department, The IIS University.
